A broad product range, low price or proximity – Axfood is tuned in to customer demands.

Axfood is one of the Nordic region’s largest listed food retail and wholesale companies. Axel Johnson AB’s holding amounts to 46 percent. The business mission is to create, develop and operate successful grocery store chains – wholly owned or through franchises. Through Hemköp, Willys and Willys hemma, Axfood meets every conceivable consumer need.

Three wholly owned chains
Willys, Sweden’s largest nationwide discount food chain, has a concept for people looking for the cheapest bag of groceries in the land . The prices offered by the chain have even become a norm in the market. The concept also includes Willys hemma, neighborhood stores located in residential areas that offer something as unique as both low prices and a broad product range with a focus on the small household. Health, food enjoyment and quality have always been important to Hemköp. Since customers are often food enthusiasts open to new ideas, a broad and exciting product range is something that Hemköp provides as a matter of course.

During 2007 the grocery store chain PrisXtra was acquired. The acquisition brings to Axfood a third store concept aside from Willys and Hemköp and considerably strengthens the group’s position in the Stockholm area.

PrisXtra’s mission is to “give all Stockholmers the most rewarding and trendiest food experience at the lowest price”.

Wholesaler to big and small
Dagab provides an efficient supply of goods to Axfood’s chains, and its goal is to be the most efficient wholesaler in Sweden. Ninety-nine percent of Dagab’s customers are retail chains within the Axfood group, Willys and Hemköp, franchise stores and collaborating independent retailers.

Axfood Närlivs conducts wholesale trading primarily to small restaurants, the food service sector, convenience stores, the service-station segment and other service outlets. At the same time, Axfood Närlivs works with concept and profile development for the independent store profiles Tempo, Handlar´n and Direkten.

High quality at low prices
Axfood leads the Swedish grocery sector in private labels which account for over 20 percent of sales. Axfood is constantly adapting its product range to meet customer preferences. In order to meet demand from different ethnic groups, Axfood has developed a broad range of recognized original products and brands from the Balkans, Middle East and other areas.
